UC Merced medical school listening tour--Charles Freeman, director of the nursing program at West Hills College Lemoore, addressed a recent gathering at the college during a public comments portion of a listening tour that is part of the UC Merced medical school planning process. A series of similar events are being held throughout the San Joaquin Valley to gather input for the school, At the Lemoore meeting, there was much discussion about the challenges of attracting medical care providers to Kings County. The number of physicians per capita for the population is among the lowest in the state. Hope was expressed that by educating more doctors in the Valley, that statistic could be improved.
