West Hills Community College Foundation Interim Director Named

Dr. Rick Post has been named interim executive director of the West Hills Community College Foundation.

With a past rich in education and community activities, Dr. Post retired from a 33-year career in higher education as a faculty member, division chair and academic dean at College of the Desert IN Palm Desert before retiring in 2007. 

During his tenure at COD, he also served as interim executive director of the COD Foundation, which had seven employees and assets of $16.5 million.  In 2006, that foundation launched a $12 million capital campaign to endow new buildings that were being constructed with bond proceeds from a successful 2004 campaign that raised $346.5 million for new buildings, renovations and two satellite campuses.  Dr. Post coordinated that campaign.

In addition to his teaching and administrative work at COD, where he taught business law and management courses, he served as adjunct faculty with California State University San Bernardino and Chapman University teaching upper division and graduate level courses.

While at COD, he chaired the Division of Hospitality Industries and the Division of Business and Social Science.  He also served as Dean of Applied Science and Business and Director of Career and Technical Education.

A member of the State Bar of California since 1983, Dr. Post’s areas of legal concentration include business law, family law and wills and trusts. 

He has served on the California State Regional Water Quality Control Board since 2007. 

He has been honored as the Palm Desert Citizen of the Year and as outstanding faculty member at COD.

A graduate of Palm Springs High School, he holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an masters in business administration (MBA) from California State University, Hayward.  His law degree is from the University of LaVerne.

Dr. Post is married to Pam and has one grown son, Rick Jr., and two grandchildren.
