The FISH Philosophy
Have you ever heard of the FISH Philosophy? I had never heard of such a thing until a meeting I attended last month. When I arrive at my meeting, I’m greeted by two overly happy women. So there I am sitting in my chair wondering why the two women are so happy. The women introduce themselves and ask if anyone has ever been to Pike's Fish Place in Seattle, Wash. A few answered yes.
Joyce, the overly happy woman, continued to tell us about Pike's Fish Place and how the business was going down hill until it was purchased by a man named John Yokoyama. John and his employees got together and came up with a new plan for Pike's Fish Place. The plan consisted of creating a super-satisfying work environment and even more delighted customers.
This is where the FISH Philosophy came in. Pike's Fish Place decided to do four things while at work. The four things are play, make their day, be there and choose your attitude. They are also the four key points of FISH.
Here at West Hills, we are constantly working with each other and with students. The way we treat our students or interact with them is very important in our success as a district. So as you go on through this semester, remember these four points--play, make their day, be there and choose your attitude.
